Custom magazines as shown offer a whole new dynamic to your AR-15 firearm allowing you to express yourself.
Most companies who offer custom magazines only offer Black Magpul PMAG’s in Gen 2 or Gen 3, but occasionally you will see other companies offering tan Magpul magazines and less than that you will see only a few offer Duramag magazines.
Other companies only offer 1 or 2 types of magazines because that means they can keep less inventory on hand and not have to keep 100’s or 1000’s of items on hand for the order. Lazer Werkz has solved that problem by keeping at least one full case of some magazines and multiple cases of popular magazines on hand, this means at any given moment they have in excess of 1,000 magazines on hand.
Lazer Werkz in Arizona has figured out the magic formula for custom laser engraved magazines. The topographic magazine is one of their most popular magazines that they offer. You can see to the right that their design even includes the 500′ lines like real topographic maps use!
Developing the design for this magazine was a labor of love for the owner. The Topographic magazine is now in version 3 where the 500′ lines are actually a different color entirely to set them apart even more!
Lazer Werkz isn’t the only company doing custom Duramag or Magpul magazines, but they’re the best in the business. The company was founded with over a decade in the firearms industry watching trends and knowing consumers with what they want. They got tired of seeing people overcharged for these types of things and knew they could do it better, so they did.
To the left you can see a magazine that they haven’t released yet (as of 3/15/2022) but will be releasing soon. We were given a sneak peek at this design as well as a few others.
Lazer Werkz doesn’t follow their competition, they lead the way. Not only are their designs done in house by graphic designers, the owner of the company personally builds all the profiles for the magazine and does test run’s on each design before releasing them to the public to insure the settings are perfect each time.
Are you seeing a trend here with their custom Duramag’s and Magpul Pmag’s? Most every design offered on their custom magazines is available in all of the colors that they offer, but sadly there are a few designs that can only be done on specific magazines.
Another favorite that they offer is Rhodesian Tiger Stripe. The FDE Pmag is mind blowing in person and so is the black, but the FDE is my favorite of them all.
Rumor has it that they are going to be releasing more camo patterns in the future as well as some truly unique colors on magazines that no one else offers.
Let’s be honest about web images, they suck. Viewing any image on the web only gives you an idea of what something looks like, in person the Rhodesian Camo magazines are mind blowing.
Being a patriotic American naturally flying the colors is a must, and the stars magazine is a must from them.
In blue the stars look mind blowing. When they released this magazine in November of 2021 they were running them for countless hours each day to fill the needs of their customers and dealers.
I’m nor sure how Lazer Werkz get’s the level of detail, clean lines and amazingly bright white color on these stars, but they do. We’ve seen other companies that offer magazines and it doesn’t seem like they care about the end product, but you can see the care in these!
If you’re a FFL or firearms accessory retailer you should reach out to them as well. They offer dealer programs that are designed to be sensible and profitable.
As a dealer you know that your profit margins are slim to non existent on firearms. Sure some premium brands do have a bit more margin in them but there are also the lost leaders like Taurus, SCCY, Ruger and so on. With having those “lost leaders” in your shop sometimes making under $20 on a firearm. Having a variety of accessories in the store that’s a quick sell to your customer and it has a decent profit margin as well can really give a little bit more padding to your bottom line. After talking to the owner of Lazer Werkz he told us that his dealers typically start off with about $500-700 in magazines and sell out within a week or so then call wanting to get another order in a panic because they underestimated their customer needs.

What the hell is with the squirrel that they hide on their page in some spots as well as the discount cards included with every order?
I never quite understood why they would use a squirrel, until I asked.
The answer was interesting, I’ll explain to the right.
The squirrel represents the saying “secret squirrel” which is a nickname given to the US Secret Service.
In typical fashion for them they are doing secret squirrel stuff too with their business. The squirrel is going to be the symbol for their insiders mailing lists, and also the icon for their “secret squirrel drops” that they are planning to release on social media in Q3 2022.
At the end of the day you want the best product for your hard earned money and Lazer Werkz delivers on that. The owner told me in our discussion that from 2020 to 2022 his costs on magazines have gone up around 6-9% across the board but he refuses to raise the prices that they are selling them for.
He told me I could quote him on this review, here’s what he had to say, “it pisses me off when a product goes up in price a small amount and I see other companies rape consumers jacking their prices up much higher than it should be. Do you see those companies charging $20-25 bucks for the same damn design we offer for $14.80, who in the hell would pay almost 50% more for the same thing. In the future I might have to raise my prices if our costs go up a lot, but for the time being we have no issues making less on each magazine to insure that we can be the best company offering the best products at the lowest possible price. To most business owners money is their motivator, I’m actually opposite, money doesn’t motivate me but the respect of my customers motivates and drives me everyday to do better”.
Update March 2022:
We discovered that Lazer Werkz is now offering Velocity triggers on their website and the prices look great.
We reached out to the owner to ask about why they were added so quietly without any fanfare and he got back to us really quickly.
He told us this “We have been working with Tom from Velocity for a few years now with our other operation doing the coating work for them, but as we’ve expanded and grown it seems natural that we offer their triggers. Since we paint all their custom colored parts you might just see limited edition exclusive colors coming from Lazer Werkz too that no one else will have, ever.”
